David Micallef to resign from GLOBE Committee of Management
ANNOUNCEMENT: Resignation of David Micallef
On Friday 26th October 2018, GLOBE Community Director and past President David Micallef announced that he would be resigning from the GLOBE Committee of Management at the end of 2018.
David has served on the GLOBE Committee of Management for the past 8 years, as Vice-President, President and Community Director.
In this time, David’s contribution to the Victorian LGBTI community has been immense – with his most prominent effort being attributed to the birth of the GLOBE Community Grants and Awards programmes.
Through these programmes, GLOBE has invested over $100,000 back into the Victorian LGBTI Community, as well as recognising the outstanding achievements of 54 individuals and organisations.
During the announcement GLOBE President Dan de Rochefort called David “a gift to the Victorian LGBTI Community.”
“David is a pillar of the Victorian LGBTI Community – contributing so much of his time to the betterment of every facet of our lives. David joined GLOBE at a time where we were not necessarily relevant to the majority of the community and built GLOBE into a more diverse and inclusive organisation. An organisation that we can be proud of.”
de Rochefort went on to say “Personally, I will miss David’s passion, knowledge and guidance on the GLOBE Committee of Management.”
With David’s departure, the GLOBE Committee of Management is now looking for a new Community Director.
GLOBE has a strong growth agenda, with particular focus on giving back to the Victorian LGBTI community. The position of GLOBE Community Director will play a pivotal role in building on our already strong community ties to increase our support of the community.
This role has 3 fundamental elements, including:
- Management and execution of GLOBE’s Community programmes
- Maintaining strong ties with our Community partners
- Forging new and long-lasting relationships with Community partners
Not only does the GLOBE Community Director oversee our Awards and Grant programmes, they are also responsible for managing the relationship of our most valued partners – Victoria’s LGBTI community organisations.
We have a desire to better reflect the community we serve. Therefore, we highly encourage LBTQ women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people to apply for this position.
