The 2023 GLOBE Community Grants, Small Business Grants and Scholarship programme is now closed and will reopen in July 2024.
GLOBE Victoria has a long and proud history of providing financial support to Victorian LGBTIQA+ communities with the GLOBE Victoria Community Grants and more recently the GLOBE Victoria Scholarships and GLOBE Victoria Small Business Grants. Over the last 32 years, GLOBE Victoria has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to deserving individuals, groups and organisations.
2023 GLOBE Victoria Community Grants
GLOBE Victoria is pleased to announce the following recipients of the 2023 GLOBE Victoria Community Grants.
Australian Queer Archives : They will receive a grant to help digitise their unique holdings of historic LGBTIQA+ audio-visual material dating back to the 1970’s at risk of being lost through deterioration caused by old age
Silver Rainbow Advocacy Group: This is a volunteer group that advocates to improve the experience of ageing for older LGBTIQA+ people in the Mount Alexander Shire in central Victoria. They will receive funds to assist in running workshops for older LGBTIQA+ people that will be guided conversations about future legal planning for (1) everyday life (2) finances and (3) end-of-life healthcare.
Geelong Pride Film Festival: They will receive a grant to stage a special networking and screening event plus Q&A within the 2024 Geelong Pride Film Festival. This will be a centrepiece event of the festival with special guests participating in a facilitated Q&A session after a networking event and highlight film.
Archer Magazine: This is a multi-award winning print and digital publication about sexuality and gender, platforming essays and artwork from some of Australia’s most marginalised identities at the intersections of LGBTIQA+ communities. Twice a year Archer Magazine provides a space for insight and expression on topics that are important to LGBTIQA+ people. GLOBE Victoria will provide funds to support venue hire, accessibility and artist wages for one of these community events.
2023 GLOBE Victoria Small Business Grants
The GLOBE Victoria Small Business Grants are specifically open to GLOBE Victoria small business members , this year the 2 recipients are:
Let’s Talk About X: This is a certified social enterprise founded with the aim of reducing the high prevalence of sexual harm and discrimination suffered by LGBTIQA+ young people. They have set out to provide training that helps schools, parents and workplaces better understand consent and become more inclusive of LGBTIQA+ communities. They will use the GLOBE Victoria Small Business Grant to promote their services to a broader audience.
Influence Global: This s a collaborative social purpose consultancy that works with boards and senior executive teams to create organisational and systemic change that will have a positive impact on people and the planet. The GLOBE Victoria Small Business Grant will be used to develop and implement an online business marketing plan to enable expansion of the business and the employment of an additional team member.
2023 GLOBE Victoria Scholarship
Finally, GLOBE Victoria is very pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2023 GLOBE Victoria Scholarship is:
Meta Cohen: Meta is an emerging queer composer, sound designer and dramaturg currently completing a PhD in Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts. Meta’s music has been commissioned by ensembles such as the Consort of Melbourne and the Sydney Children’s Choir. Part of the GLOBE Victoria Scholarship will be used to fund a trip to London where they will give public presentations about their research on queer performance. The rest of the Scholarship will support the development of a new queer theatre performance work called HOMO FOMO.
