We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dan de Rochefort for his service in leading GLOBE over the last two and a half years.
Dan has been a dedicated committee member for the almost 4 years, first joining in the role of Vice President under the leadership of then President, David Micallef, before taking on the top job in September 2017. Dan’s hard work, passion for community and commitment in leading GLOBE has consolidated the organisation as an integral part of Victoria’s LGBTIQ+ community.
Dan will officially step down in the role as President of GLOBE on 24 February 2020, following his notification to the GLOBE Committee of Management in January.
de Rochefort said: “I’ve been incredibly privileged to be part of GLOBEs incredible 28-year history and have learnt so much in my capacity as president. But, it is time for the next guard to take on the ever challenging and rewarding role of President to ensure GLOBE continues to evolve and grow.”
During his time as President, Dan has seen GLOBE foster closer relationships with Corporate Australia through GLOBEs Partnership Program, co-led the largest LGBTIQ+ awards program in Victoria in partnership with the Victorian Government and increased the diversity of GLOBEs Committee of Management and members to be more reflective of the community at large.
Vice President, Andrew Georgiou acknowledged Dan’s contribution to GLOBE: “I would like to thank Dan for his time as President of GLOBE.
Throughout my time on GLOBE’s committee of management, Dan has shared his wealth of knowledge and experience. His true passion, dedication and energy for GLOBE is inspiring and I have enjoyed working with him.
It’s through his leadership at GLOBE that Dan should acknowledge and celebrate the many successes of the organisation. I wish Dan all the very best and look forward to continuing to work with Dan on the committee.”
Following the resignation, the GLOBE Committee of Management is inviting expressions of interest for the next President Until a new President is appointed, Vice President Andrew Georgiou will act as the interim President.
Andrew has been on the GLOBE Committee for more than 2 years, starting in the role of Corporate Partnership Director, before taking on the role of Vice President in October 2019.
