Both Victorian political parties pledge support for Community Awards

The GLOBE Community Awards celebrate achievement in Victoria’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex communities.

The awards have been supported by the Victorian Government for the past three years, originally by the Liberal party and more recently by the Labor party.  Both parties have pledged to support the awards if they are elected on Saturday 26th November 2018.

On Saturday 17th November 2018,  Shadow Minister for Equality, the Honourable David Davis announced a number of commitments to the Victorian LGBTI Community, including continued support of the GLOBE Community Awards by way of $60,000 funding per year over the next four years, as well as an additional $10,000 specifically for a Small Business Award or Grant.

Victorian Minister of Equality, Martin Foley also indicated that a Labor Government would continue its support of the GLOBE Community Awards over the next four years.

“It is terrific to see both sides of the Victorian Government recognise the important impact the GLOBE Community Awards has for Victoria, through this announcement of continued support through to 2022,” says Dan de Rochefort, GLOBE President.

“The continued support of both sides of the Victorian Government will ensure we can continue to celebrate those who contribute our community well into the future.”

The GLOBE Community Awards serve as a poignant way to recognise the work being done and the great strides being made in and for our community, and to celebrate unsung heroes.

The GLOBE Community Awards has honoured 54 individuals and organisations that make Victoria a prosperous, welcoming and safe place for the LGBTI community.
