A message from Dan de Rochefort, GLOBE President
🎵I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there’s just one thing I need. I don’t care about the presents, underneath the Christmas tree… 🎵

We’ve had another wonderful year at GLOBE, helping individuals and small businesses to connect and forge long lasting connections, recognising the unsung heroes of our vibrant and diverse community and shaking things up to ensure we focus on what’s important.
GLOBE has seen record attendance at our monthly GLOBE Networking events. Therefore, we’ve been on the hunt for some incredible new venues.
We look forward to introducing our members and friends to Melbourne Public in South Wharf, The Smith in Prahran and Fargo & Co in Richmond in the first half of the new year.
2018 marked our 5th year celebrating all that is great about Victoria’s LGBTI community through our awards and grants program. To date, we have reinvested over $500,000 back into the community through our grants program and recognised 54 individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to positively contribute to the prosperity of our community.
In 2019, these programmes will become even bigger, seeing us give away the largest sum of grants ever as well as moving to a larger venue for the Community Awards.
And last but certainly not least, we introduced our Focus on Women event series. Focus on Women is a safe space for LBTQ women to meet, connect, be entertained and hear from some of our inspirational LBTQ peers in an intimate setting.
Whilst we can’t share too much about our next Focus on Women event on Friday 1st February, tickets have now gone on sale – so we encourage you to get one before they’re all gone. Better yet, why not get one for a friend or colleague while you’re there… it is Christmas after all.
In January, my team and I will make some big announcements that will change the face of GLOBE forever! So, stay tuned – you’re not going to want to miss this!
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the incredible GLOBE Committee of Management who are dedicated, passionate and have become great friends of mine. Without you, GLOBE would not have such an exciting future.
I’d also like to thank our inaugural Principal Partner Optus for their ongoing support, as well as our inaugural Major Partner, ANZ, and all of our Corporate and Community members.
But my biggest thanks go to our tremendous Small Business and Individual members. I thank you for your commitment to GLOBE, in helping us thrive and support the Victorian LGBTI community for 26 years. Thank you for your honesty, confidence and support. We wouldn’t be here without you.
I wish you a wonderfully happy Holiday Season and cannot wait to see you all again in 2019.
